Cassi Bleitz is a visual arts alumnus of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities and a current BFA student at Winthrop University. Majoring in Expanded Media Studies, Cassi focuses on the relationship between their photography/video, drawing, printmaking, and installation. Within their work, they seek to explore how perception molds identity and deconstruct the narratives of shame and restriction present in binary societies. Through their process, the artist focuses on celebration, inviting their community into their work, celebrating bodies in conversation with one another, and prioritizing joy as a method of resistance.
